En 1934 se decidió decorar las dos bocas con motivos alusivos a Ávila y Segovia, ciudades por donde discurrían los anteriores accesos. La boca sur en teoría fue construida como replica de la Puerta de San Vicente de las murallas de Ávila y la norte, simulando el Alcázar de Segovia.
