Las de las serie 1-10 de la Compañía de Madrid a Cáceres y Portugal son las únicas del tipo 220 que se han concebido para el servicio de viajeros en España. Estas locomotoras (de las que 5 llegaron a RENFE y recibieron los números 220-2001 / 2005) fueron construidas en 1881 en Alemania.
